ABOUT

"It's What You Learn After You Know It All That Counts."
--Earl Weaver

To most of you out there, I am probably not the one for you. I am ultra-liberal politically, not religious (but spiritual), not into materialism, buying stuff, the corporate world (I did that and didn't much like it). I am funny--sometimes bad jokes and puns, but most of the time much more sophisticated. I do stand-up comedy in NC and DC. I love Larry David (could be a deal blocker). I think one of the best ways to combat this absurd world we live in is by being irreverent.

To put it simply--I am an outsider. When I travel, I never take a tour or go with a group. I love to explore and find adventure. I'm not the traveller who stays within a mile of the big tourist spots--I venture out to see more.

I spend a lot of my time in the arts community. I work as a standardized patient actor (you will have to ask me and I will tell you). I teach writing classes. I act (I'm a member of The Little Green Pig Theatrical Concern). I walk my dog and take photographs which I use in my encaustic art.

I write a lot--many hours a day. I love films, theater, good conversation, music, art museums, baseball, poetry readings, improv, comedy and new ideas.

I was raised Jewish but consider it more of a cultural label. I identify as a Jew but, in my heart, I just don't believe in god. I have searched my entire life for spiritual meaning and have found several ideas that suit me. It is constantly evolving and I listen.

I love to travel--10 years ago I went to Prague for a 4-week writing seminar and stayed 3 years. I moved to NC to care for my father who had dementia. He passed away 5 years ago. Taking care of him was one of the biggest challenges of my life.

I love my dog Sierra and animals in general. I have been blessed with incredible dogs and I am fascinated by canine behavior. I also love observing the wildlife that has chosen to share my little piece of real estate.

What have I learned from past relationships? Respect is number one. Listening is right there. There has been so much written about being in the moment, empathy and thinking that sometimes listening gets lost. It is hard work and sometimes I need a refresher course.

Emotional honesty is the most important thing to me and leads to real intimacy. I admit it is hard work to sort out emotions but I am willing to work hard at it in an intimate relationship. Intimacy, tenderness and both verbal and non-verbal communication is so important to me. Good cuddling sometimes is better than anything.

My mom was a great influence on me about cooking and health. I love to try new cuisines and love to cook, especially without a recipe. I recently made knishes with a friend and it was really fun.

Who am I looking for? I don't know. Honestly. I would like to develop a long-term relationship built on respect and support, balanced with creativity and kindness. I guess that's asking a lot, but I am ready to give.

What I am looking for

A woman interested in the arts, the planet, liberal attitudes, smart and funny conversations who likes adventure, travel, intellectual challenge.
